I walked along this sandy beach
And think of days gone by
Of golden rays
And happy days
Merriment which went rye.
I dreamed of you in laughter
Of pockets full of clams
Of the sun dipping
Into the sea
And melting to distant lands.
My memories are fading
The beach long past gone
I’m older now
Full of so much joy
Holding you in my arms.

Commentary
While I have dedicated this poem to my husband, it was actually written when I was about 22 years-old and my thoughts of the future and growing old; within a loving marriage.
