Islamophobia

To criticize the actions
Of a whole society
For the tragedies of a few
Is a lack of understanding
For the people as a whole.

To not except
The world around you
Or listen to the truth
Is blindness
Is deafness.

And they will say,
You're a fool!

Commentary
This poem was written because of rampant Islamophobia, in 2006 and towards Yusuf Islam being a victim of this form of mistreatment.

At this time, I was also trying to understand, how people could be so mean; even having been mistreated numerous times over my life; as some people in the United States use to say to me that I was different, only because I was a Palestinian Muslim. At least this was my thoughts or understanding in 2006.
