The Inflamed City

Like a breached city without a wall, so is a man with no constraint of spirit.- Proverbs 25:28.

Anger is to often a negative response to a self-induced wrong, for example:

1) Anger without the right to do so (hatred), malice and envy
2) Anger for the sake of ones ego and vindicating or justifying oneself when in the wrong.

Also, anger is considered a form of temporary insanity, because of the aspect that a person to often say’s or does what they normally would not do; even to go so far as to inflict harm, cause the suffering of others, deliberate lying, which includes the use of propaganda for the purpose of lying to influence people through disinformation or information omission, to recklessness in the commission of a wrong (malice).
The heart of a wise man places intelligence into his mouth and increases learning on his lips. Words of pleasantness are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bone.-Proverbs 16:23, 24.

As to self-control, Muhammad (PBUH) put it very simply, “Do not become angry;” or as it is said in proverbs 29:7-11:

A righteous person knows the oppression of the poor, but an evil person will not understand such knowledge.

Scoffing men will inflame a city, but the wise will turn back anger.

When a wise man contends with a foolish one, the wise man may rage or laugh, but will have no satisfaction.

Bloody men hate an innocent person, but the upright seek to cleave to the soul.

The fool vents all his anger, but the wise man comes afterwards and assuages it.
