A Light in the Darkness

"When it is darkest, it is always possible to find the light."

A youth gazing on a lighted menorah during Hanukkah, illuminated only by its light.

Hanukkah is a religious holiday which commemorates a battle for religious freedom during the Maccabean rebellion and the reclaiming, to cleansing of the Temple in 167 BCE in which Hashem (Allah) came to their aide, even with the oil that would last only one night; but instead lasted eight days to illuminate the Temple. Which this event is also considered a victory over being oppressed by a foreign power during the Hellenistic age which consisted of ancient Macedonia and Greece, for Macedonia still had control of Greece from Alexander the Greats conquests; which contended with idol worship and the sacrifice of pigs.

This event was not about materialistic ideals, but the importance of mankind, which personally while one thinks of what actually occurred, one is also reminded of not just what Hashem (Allah) did; but the love for all of mankind and the freedom to live with the beauty of not just the many countries, but the wonderful faces.

I wish everyone a very happy Hanukkah,

HRM Deborah
